Lucknow: In childhood, school teachers used to teach every tune of life, but today the same private schools, taking advantage of government schemes, are collecting arbitrary fees from students. Increasing fees in the name of ‘robotic education’, the owners of these schools are becoming rich, but their teachers are trapped in the grip of economic and mental exploitation.
The government claims to give private school teachers PF-gratuity along with 15,000-30,000 rupees to primary teachers and 35,000-80,000 rupees to highly educated-experienced under the 7th Pay Commission. In reality, operators give half salary and recover the rest back in the name of ‘deductions’. According to sources, 8-10 thousand or 15,000 rupees are got back even after giving 7th Commission salary. If you complain, you have to lose your job—fear of basic education officer, court or helpline (like 1800-180-5316) keeps teachers silent.
90% schools in exploitation web: According to teachers, 90% private schools in Lucknow are involved in this illegal economic and mental harassment. Only 10% are following the rules—claim of 100% compliance will be wrong. This systematic exploitation is a subject of investigation.
Strict laws necessary for upliftment of teachers: Annual audit of every school operator’s property; new laws ensuring legal salary; strict action like property seizure and school closure on exploitation. PM Narendra Modi’s slogan ‘Padhega India tabhi badhega India’ becomes ground reality, then stress-free teachers can give proper education to the country’s future. Until teachers remain exploited, how will the country progress?
Reform suggestions:
Mandatory minimum wage law for private schools.
Annual property investigation and audit.
Helpline for immediate action on exploitation complaints.
Formation of Teacher Protection Board.
Reforms soon, otherwise education’s future is in danger!
