Iraq Opposed Iran, Saudi-Qatar-Kuwait-Bahrain Support

*Lucknow, March 6, 2026:
The 2003 Iraq War (Second Gulf War) was a controversial chapter in America’s ‘war on terror.’ On March 20, America attacked the Saddam Hussein government, with main allegations being possession of weapons of mass destruction (WMD), links to Al-Qaeda, and violation of UN resolutions.
By May, Saddam was ousted from power, but no WMD were found, branding the war as ‘based on lies.’

## Allied Countries: Provided Land or Deployed Troops?
The ‘Coalition of the Willing’ included 49 countries, but Saudi Arabia-Qatar provided land to oust Saddam, while Iran opposed it. America fought the main battle.

| Role | Country | Description |
|——|———|————-|
| *Land Provided (Bases)* | Kuwait (main launch pad), Qatar (Al Udeid Air Base), Saudi Arabia (air support), Bahrain (naval base), Turkey (northern attack permission) | Strategic support to America with intent to remove Saddam; Saudi-Qatar openly provided services. |
| *Troops Deployed on Ground* | America (1.5 lakh+), Britain (45,000), Australia (2,000), Poland (2,500) | Britain captured southern Iraq; others in non-combat roles. Iran openly condemned America.
