Lucknow, March 7, 2026: To maintain peace and law and order during the holy month of Ramadan, the Lucknow district administration held an important meeting with prominent Shia community cleric Maulana Yasoob Abbas at his residence in Lucknow. This meeting focused particularly on the processions scheduled for the 19th and 21st of Ramadan, which prominently feature events commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Ali. In this discussion with Maulana Yasoob Abbas, General Secretary of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, police officials held detailed deliberations on procession routes, crowd management, and security arrangements.Deputy Commissioner of Police (Lucknow West) Vishwajeet Srivastava, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), ACP Chowk, along with several other senior officials, were present at the meeting. The officials informed Maulana Yasoob Abbas about the special arrangements being made for the processions, including deployment of heavy police forces, traffic diversions, CCTV surveillance, and emergency services. Maulana Sahab appreciated the administration’s efforts and appealed to the community to ensure all processions are conducted peacefully and in accordance with regulations, so that the sanctity of Ramadan is preserved.This meeting reflects the district administration’s proactive approach to preventing any untoward incidents during religious events in the city. Lucknow, known for its cultural and religious diversity, hosts such processions every year, and the administration prioritizes security each time. After the meeting, officials stated that with cooperation from all sides, this year’s events will conclude without any disruptions.The 19th and 21st dates of Ramadan in 2026 fall on April 2 and April 4, respectively, when special processions for the martyrdom of Imam Ali will take place. The administration has appealed to the city’s residents to cooperate with these events and follow traffic rules.
