Barabanki: With the aim of ensuring the safety of devotees and maintaining the sanctity of the religious site, Muhammad Ahmad “Shahenshah,” Trustee of the Haji Waris Ali Shah Mausoleum Trust, submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate of Barabanki, demanding a permanent ban on shops, hotels, and other commercial activities within the Dewa Sharif Dargah premises.
In the memorandum submitted on October 13, 2026, he stated that the use of electricity, gas, furnaces, and other inflammable materials within the dargah premises poses a serious risk of fire. Such incidents could endanger the lives and property of devotees and create law-and-order challenges for the administration.
Referring to incidents of fires, stampedes, and other accidents at religious places, the memorandum highlighted growing concerns about the safety of devotees. It stressed the need to take preventive measures in a timely manner to avoid any untoward incident.
Muhammad Ahmad “Shahenshah” urged the District Magistrate to ensure that no shops, hotels, flower and chadar stalls, or other commercial activities are permitted within the dargah premises. He further requested that the premises be kept free from such activities and that adequate arrangements be made for the accommodation, seating, and religious observances of Zaireen (devotees and pilgrims) visiting the shrine.
The memorandum expressed hope that the district administration would take the matter seriously in the interest of public safety and the welfare of devotees and issue the necessary directions accordingly.
