AISPLB Convention in Lucknow on December 28: Discussions from UCC, Shia Reservation, Waqf Corruption to Jannat-ul-Baqi Reconstruction.

The President of the India Shia Personal Law Board, Maulana Syed Sayem Mehdi, and General Secretary, Maulana Yasub Abbas, addressed a press conference in Lucknow today, announcing that the All India Shia Personal Law Board’s annual convention will be held on December 28, 2025, at 11 AM at Imambara Asafi ud-Daula (Bara Imambara), Lucknow. Ulama, khutbas, intellectuals, and community leaders from across the country will participate in this convention. The press conference was also addressed by Maulana Zahir Abbas, Maulana Jafar Abbas, Maulana Anwar Hussain Rizvi, Maulana Eijaz Athar, Maulana Intizam Haider, and Shri Zahir Mustafa.

 

Addressing the press conference, the Board’s General Secretary Maulana Yasub Abbas stated that the following points will be discussed at the All India Shia Personal Law Board’s national convention:

 

1. Views on the implementation of Common Civil Code in India.

 

2. Demand for the reconstruction of the mausoleums in Jannat-ul-Baqi, Medina, Saudi Arabia.

 

3. Demand for a separate commission, like the Sachar Commission, to assess the conditions of Shia Muslims.

 

4. Demand for Shia Muslims to receive their population-proportionate share in the portion allocated to minorities by the government.

 

5. Demand for reservation for Shia Muslims in jobs based on economic backwardness.

 

6. Discussion on the lack of representation of 8 crore Shia Muslims in India in Parliament and state assemblies.

 

7. Proposal for social reforms, especially curbing unnecessary expenses on weddings, celebrations, and mourning occasions.

 

8. Condemnation of terrorism spreading in India and around the world, and proposals to stop it.

 

9. Proposals for reforms and progress in Shia religious and traditional education.

 

10. Discussion on legal measures to stop hate speeches and mob lynching.

 

11. Discussion on corruption in Waqf Boards, sale of Waqf properties, and the Waqf Amendment Act 2024.

 

12. Discussion on the demand to not impose any ban on hijab.

 

13. Discussion on presenting the true, authentic image of Islam—not based on the character of kings, but in the light of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his progeny—to the world.

 

14. Discussion on the political, social, economic, and educational rights situation of the Shia Muslim community.
