Respecting the Sanctity of Majlis and the Teachings of the Quran: The Folly of Noise, Uproar, and Comparing It to Sports – Shabu Zaidi**

In recent times, a debate has been circulating on social media regarding shouting, creating uproar, or engaging in inappropriate behavior during Majlis (religious gatherings, particularly in the Shia community during Muharram). After consulting with intellectuals who love Allah’s religion and the Ahlul Bayt, I have attempted to articulate their views. 🙏

The sanctity of Majlis and the teachings of the Quran, particularly based on Surah Al-A’raf (7:204), emphasize that creating noise, causing a commotion, or behaving inappropriately during Majlis not only contradicts the Quran’s teachings but also disrespects the spirit of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and the martyrs of Karbala. Furthermore, comparing Majlis to sports events like the IPL has been deemed inappropriate and disrespectful.

1. **The Message of the Quranic Verse**:
– Surah Al-A’raf (7:204) states: *“And when the Quran is recited, listen to it attentively and remain silent, so that mercy may be shown to you.”* This verse instructs maintaining peace and respect during Majlis.
– Making noise or engaging in inappropriate behavior during the recitation of the Quran in Majlis goes against this divine command.

2. **The Sanctity of Karbala and the Seriousness of Majlis**:
– Majlis is a sacred occasion in the Shia community to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S.), his family, and companions in Karbala. It is a time for grief and reverence, where tears and mourning honor the sacrifices of the martyrs.
– Creating noise, causing a disturbance, or shouting in praise during this sacred gathering undermines the sanctity of the martyrs’ sacrifice and the dignity of Majlis.

3. **Refuting the Comparison of Majlis with IPL**:
– Some people justify making noise in Majlis by comparing it to sports events like the IPL, where spectators cheer and celebrate their team’s victory. This comparison is utterly misguided and foolish because:
– The IPL is a form of entertainment and a sporting event, whereas Majlis is a religious and solemn gathering aimed at spiritual reflection and honoring the martyrs.
– Such comparisons insult the religious sentiments of the Shia community and the sanctity of the martyrdom of Karbala.

4. **The Importance of Durood and Salaam**:
– The text references Surah Al-Ahzab (33:56): *“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet.”* This verse highlights that sending Durood and Salaam during Majlis is appropriate and aligns with Quranic teachings, rather than creating noise.
– Mourning and shedding tears to remember the martyrs is an integral part of Majlis, but it should not devolve into noise or commotion.

5. **Conclusion**:
– Making noise, creating an uproar, or causing a disturbance in Majlis violates the teachings of the Quran and disrespects the martyrdom of Karbala’s martyrs. Comparing Majlis to a sports event is not only foolish but also hurtful to religious sentiments.
– Majlis should be observed with peace, respect, and spiritual reflection to truly honor the teachings of the Quran and the memory of the martyrs.

– When responding to such misguided comparisons on social media, present the Quranic verses and the historical significance of Karbala’s martyrdom with humility and logic.
– Educate people about the sanctity of Majlis, emphasizing that it is a religious and spiritual event meant to commemorate the martyrs’ sacrifices and worship Allah, not for entertainment.
