On the 21st of Ramadan, marking the martyrdom of Shias’ first Imam and Prophet Muhammad’s brother and successor Hazrat Ali, Shia Personal Law Board General Secretary and Shia religious scholar Maulana Yasub Abbas addressed a majlis in New Najaf, Rustam Nagar, old Lucknow. He stated that Hazrat Ali’s (A.S.) brief tenure of governance serves as the finest advice to all the world’s rulers. During his rule, Hazrat Ali established a government of justice and equity, proclaiming: “Bring forth even one person during my tenure whose body lacks clothing, whose stomach lacks bread, and whose head lacks a roof.” Despite this proclamation, no one from the government could produce such a person suffering from poverty and unemployment. Maulana Yasub Abbas said that today, governments are formed and fall in the name of roti (bread), kapda (clothing), and makaan (shelter), yet a rule of justice and equity—where everyone gets equal rights—is not established. Today’s rulers should draw lessons from Hazrat Ali’s tenure of governance. While reciting marsiya (expressing grief), Maulana Yasub Abbas said that today every person is drowned in sorrow, every eye is tearful, and every person has come to bid farewell to their Mawla. The support of orphans, the refuge of the poor and needy, has departed from this world. On the morning of 19th Ramadan, while performing Fajr prayer, Abdul Rahman ibn Muljam attacked Hazrat Ali’s head with a sword dipped in poison in Masjid-e-Kufa, inflicting severe wounds that led to his martyrdom. Maulana said this was the first terrorist attack in a mosque in Islamic history, and those who consider the terrorist Abdul Rahman ibn Muljam a role model today still draw inspiration from that tyrant, planting bombs in mosques and targeting innocent, guiltless people. After Maulana Yasub Abbas addressed the Alawida majlis of the procession, thousands of believers—women, children, and youth—shouldered the bier of their Imam Hazrat Ali (A.S.) with tearful eyes and consigned it to the earth in Karbala Talkatora, Lucknow, passing through New Najaf Rustam Nagar, Chote Sahab Alam Road, Victoria Street, Turrayaganj, with chants of “Ya Ali, Maulana Haider Mawla.”
