NDA Muslim MPs and Women Leaders Should Also Be Invited to the Delhi Muslim Conference By Shabu Zaidi
New Delhi: The proposed conference of Muslim leaders and organizations, scheduled to be held in New Delhi on 24 July 2026, is a commendable initiative aimed at discussing important issues concerning Muslims across the country. If the platform is bringing together Muslim Members of Parliament, religious scholars, and social organizations from different political backgrounds, its inclusiveness and impact can be further strengthened.
Independent journalist Shabu Zaidi believes that senior Muslim leaders associated with the NDA, such as Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Shahnawaz Hussain, and other Muslim public representatives, should also be invited to the conference. If the objective is to effectively convey the concerns and suggestions of the Muslim community to the government, the participation of Muslim leaders connected with the ruling alliance could play an important role.
The conference should also ensure meaningful representation of Muslim women. Women leaders such as MP Iqra Hasan and social activist Rubina Murtaza Javed should be invited so that issues related to purdah, hijab, education, safety, employment, and other matters affecting Muslim women can be discussed from their perspective.
The conference will be more meaningful and truly representative if it includes participants from diverse ideologies, all major political parties, and every section of society. The broader the dialogue, the more effectively the voice of the community can be presented before the government and the nation.
