Baba Ramdev’s Remarks on ‘Hindu Rashtra’ at Delhi University Spark Debate

ew Delhi: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev made remarks on the concept of a “Hindu Rashtra” during an event at the University of Delhi (DU), triggering fresh political and social debate. Addressing the gathering, he said that Muslims have no reason to fear a Hindu Rashtra, asserting that India’s culture teaches respect for all religions and communities.

Ramdev said that India’s identity is rooted in its ancient civilization and rich cultural heritage. He emphasized that everyone living in the country should respect the traditions and legacy of their ancestors. According to him, society should not be divided on the basis of religion; instead, people should prioritize national interest, harmony, and shared human values.

Referring to the Muslim community, he said that Muslims should not hesitate to embrace the traditions of their ancestors and India’s cultural values. He further stated that a person’s true identity is defined not by their dress, lifestyle, or outward appearance, but by their character, conduct, and moral values.

Ramdev also urged young people to make Indian culture, yoga, and moral education an integral part of their lives. He said that the country’s unity, integrity, and social harmony would be strengthened when people from all communities live together with mutual respect and trust.

His comments on the idea of a “Hindu Rashtra” have since attracted widespread attention and are expected to draw varied reactions from political parties and social organizations. Supporters describe the remarks as an expression of cultural nationalism, while critics view them as controversial comments on a sensitive issue.
