The United States Launches Major Strikes on Iran; Iran Responds by Firing Missiles Toward Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain
Tehran/Washington: Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply once again. The United States military carried out large-scale strikes inside Iran, targeting several military sites, including missile and drone facilities. According to the U.S. administration, the operation was launched in response to Iran’s alleged attacks on strategic maritime routes and commercial shipping.
Following the U.S. strikes, Iran retaliated by launching missiles and drones toward Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, and U.S. military bases in the region. Air defense systems were activated in several countries, air raid sirens sounded, and authorities claimed that a number of incoming missiles were intercepted before reaching their targets.
According to the U.S. Central Command, the strikes were intended to weaken Iran’s military capabilities by targeting multiple strategic locations. Iran, however, stated that it was defending its sovereignty and warned that it would respond even more forcefully if the attacks continued.
The military confrontation has also heightened tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway through which a significant portion of the world’s oil and natural gas trade passes. Analysts warn that any further escalation could disrupt global energy markets and international trade. Meanwhile, several countries have called for restraint and urged all parties to pursue an immediate diplomatic solution.
