Lucknow, famously known as Nawabi Awadh, is renowned for its cultural and historical heritage. The city is celebrated not only for its refined culture and hospitality but also for its contributions to social and educational reforms. In this context, the name of the late Dr. Kalbe Sadiq stands out as an exemplar, whose unforgettable contributions to education, health, and community welfare continue to inspire. His vision and efforts are not only remembered but also deemed essential to carry forward.
Dr. Kalbe Sadiq’s Contributions: A Revolution in Education and Health
Dr. Kalbe Sadiq took significant steps during his lifetime to educate society and make healthcare accessible. He founded Unity College, which became a major educational hub for children of all religions and castes. This institution not only elevated educational standards but also promoted unity and inclusivity in society. Additionally, the hospital he established in Qasment Tape Wali Gali continues to provide free medical services to thousands, with a daily OPD of two to three thousand patients. This hospital stands as a living testament to his humanity and commitment to social service.
Dr. Kalbe Sadiq also opened doors for those in Lucknow who could not visit sacred sites like Iraq, Iran, and Syria. He established mosques, cemeteries, and healthcare facilities like Darushshifa, along with Hikmat Khana near Gol Darwaza, which continues to benefit people. His foresight also facilitated land for Christian missionary schools, which still play a significant role in education, though securing admission in these schools has become challenging due to the growing population.
The Land of Dargah Hazrat Abbas: New Possibilities
According to reliable sources, there are plans to construct a Roza (mausoleum) on the vacant land of Dargah Hazrat Abbas in Lucknow. However, local residents believe that the needs of society have evolved. The Quran, in Surah 58, Ayat 11, emphasizes the importance of education, highlighting that knowledge is the greatest tool for uplifting society. Therefore, instead of building a Roza, this land should be utilized for education, health, and skill development.
People suggest establishing CBSE and ICSE schools, technical education institutes, and a modern hospital offering free treatment on this land. Additionally, skill development courses and coaching centers could be set up to provide employment opportunities for the community’s youth. Such initiatives would not only carry forward Dr. Kalbe Sadiq’s vision but also empower the new generation to become self-reliant.
The Path Ahead: Progress with Unity and Wisdom
To keep Dr. Kalbe Sadiq’s legacy alive, we must work with the same wisdom and unity he exemplified. The income from Dargah Hazrat Abbas could be used to operate and maintain institutions that meet society’s needs without sparking religious discord. Establishing schools, colleges, hospitals, and skill development centers under the banner of Idara-e-Aale Rasool would not only ensure the community’s progress but also uphold the glory of Nawabi Awadh.
May Allah grant Dr. Kalbe Sadiq a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous alongside Aale Rasool and bless us with the strength to carry forward his vision. Like him, we must work selflessly for the betterment of society, ensuring that future generations become self-reliant in education, health, and employment.
