Relief for Rahul Gandhi as Defamation Case Is Dismissed
Sultanpur | Shabu Zaidi
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has received relief in the defamation case involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah from a court in Sultanpur. The case was related to an allegedly controversial statement made by Rahul Gandhi during a press conference amid the Karnataka Assembly elections, when Amit Shah was the national president of the BJP.
Feeling aggrieved by the statement, local BJP leader Vijay Mishra filed a complaint in court. Following witness testimonies and statements, the case reached the High Court over the issue of voice verification. The complainant’s petition was subsequently dismissed.
Meanwhile, vehicles in Rahul Gandhi’s convoy collided with each other on the Lucknow–Sultanpur Highway. However, Rahul Gandhi remained safe and reached the court.
