Time: 9 April 2026, Cooch Behar, West Bengal:
As part of the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public rally in Cooch Behar and launched a sharp attack on the TMC government. He said that a “wave of change” is sweeping Bengal and that all the “atrocities” committed by the TMC will be accounted for.
According to reports, Modi alleged that bridges were closed, vehicles were stopped, traffic was deliberately jammed, and BJP flags and posters were removed in an attempt to block the rally, but despite that, a massive crowd turned up. He also said that the TMC insulted people attending the rally by calling them “thieves,” but the public knows the real situation.
Modi further accused the state government of encouraging lawlessness, corruption, and violence in Bengal. Separate reports also said that he described Mamata Banerjee’s government as “maha jungle raj” and a center of migration, while referring to incidents like Sandeshkhali and Malda.
