Ranchi, August 16, 2026: The student movement in Jharkhand has intensified over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations and demands for reforms in the examination system. Protesters have now given the government time until August 18 to take concrete action. The students have warned that if their demands are not addressed satisfactorily by the deadline, they will lay siege to Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s residence on August 20.
The protest is primarily related to alleged irregularities, lack of transparency and concerns over the examination process conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).
