Iranian President Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister to Visit the United States

New York | Shabu Zaidi

The United States has approved visas for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, along with key members of the Iranian delegation, to attend the high-level session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Both leaders will participate in the United Nations General Assembly in New York next week. According to the U.S. State Department, the Iranian delegation will face restrictions on travel and certain purchases within the United States, and this year’s delegation will be smaller than last year’s.

The decision comes at a time when tensions between the United States and Iran remain high. As the host country of the UN headquarters, the United States also has certain international responsibilities regarding access for foreign representatives attending United Nations meetings.
