Zardozi is the Pride of Lucknow and the Nation; the Government Should Introduce a Special Package to Support Artisans” — Maulana Yasoob Abbas
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: All India Shia Personal Law Board General Secretary Maulana Yasoob Abbas praised Lucknow’s world-famous Zardozi craftsmanship, describing it as not only the city’s identity but also a symbol of India’s rich cultural heritage and national pride.
He said, “Zardozi has been practiced in Old Lucknow for generations. When the Prime Minister of India visited New Zealand and presented Zardozi products as gifts, it became a matter of pride for the people of Lucknow and the Zardozi artisans. Even today, Zardozi sarees, salwar suits, wall hangings, and other handcrafted products enjoy strong demand across the world.”
Maulana Yasoob Abbas said that this recognition and respect are the result of the hard work and dedication of Zardozi artisans over many years. He noted that artisans spend long hours preserving this traditional craft, but the industry is currently facing a severe slowdown, leaving thousands of craftsmen in financial distress.
He urged the Government of Uttar Pradesh to announce a special financial package to revive the Zardozi industry and provide relief to artisans, ensuring the protection of this traditional art and the livelihoods of the families associated with it.
