Kubera’s Treasure’ Found at Former ARTO’s House in Lucknow: ₹1.62 Crore Cash, 13 kg Gold, 9 kg Silver; Assets Worth ₹35 Crore Seized
Lucknow: In a major anti-corruption operation, the Uttar Pradesh Vigilance Department recovered a huge amount of cash, gold, silver, and important documents from the Lucknow residence of former Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Lalit Kumar. The total value of the assets recovered is estimated at around ₹35 crore.
According to investigating officials, the search led to the recovery of ₹1.62 crore in cash, approximately 13 kilograms of gold, 9 kilograms of silver, along with property documents, investment records, and several other important financial papers.
Lalit Kumar had previously served as an ARTO in Agra. He is under investigation for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The Vigilance team has taken possession of all the recovered cash, jewellery, and documents for further examination and valuation.
Officials said that the recovered documents will be scrutinized to trace benami (proxy) properties, bank accounts, investments, and other financial transactions. Investigators are working to determine the source of the wealth and whether other individuals were involved.
Further legal proceedings are underway. The Vigilance Department and other concerned agencies are continuing their investigation into the source of the assets, possible benami investments, and the entire network behind the alleged disproportionate wealth.
