Bihar Cracks Down on Fake Degree Teachers: 3,035 Government Teachers to Be Dismissed, Salaries to Be Recovered with Interest; FIRs Registered Against 1,830
Patna: In one of the biggest crackdowns on fraud in the education sector, the Bihar Education Department has initiated the process of dismissing 3,035 government school teachers who allegedly secured their jobs using fake or questionable educational certificates.
According to the department, dismissal alone will not be the end of the action. The government has also decided to recover all salaries and honorariums paid to these teachers, along with interest, in an effort to compensate for the loss caused to the public exchequer.
In addition, First Information Reports (FIRs) have already been registered against 1,830 teachers. Legal proceedings against the remaining accused are also underway. Officials have clarified that teachers who resigned after the investigation began will not be exempt from legal action, and their cases will continue to be examined.
The Education Department stated that those found guilty of obtaining government jobs through forged documents will face criminal prosecution, dismissal from service, and financial recovery. District authorities have been directed to expedite the proceedings and submit detailed reports to the government.
The state government said the crackdown is aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in the education system. It also plans to strengthen the teacher recruitment process through stricter verification and improved technological safeguards to prevent similar fraud in the future.
The action has created a stir within the education department, with reports suggesting that a large number of teachers have submitted their resignations amid the ongoing investigation. Officials believe this drive will help restore public trust and uphold the credibility of Bihar’s education system.
