Key Meeting Held in Tehran as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye Agree to Continue Talks for Regional Peace
Tehran | Shabu Zaidi
A four-way meeting of senior representatives from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye was held in Tehran on October 26, where the countries agreed to continue dialogue to strengthen regional peace, security and cooperation. According to the joint statement, all four countries decided to maintain discussions on regional security issues.
The meeting discussed the situation in Palestine and Lebanon, Israel’s activities, and the regional implications of the ongoing tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran. Iran emphasized the need to develop a regional security framework based on cooperation among countries in the region.
The meeting marked an important high-level engagement involving Iran following the joint defence agreement signed between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye in August. Amid attacks by Yemen’s Houthi rebels on Saudi Arabia and rising tensions in the Gulf region, the initiative aims to promote diplomatic dialogue and support efforts to prevent further military escalation. However, no comprehensive peace agreement was announced at the meeting.
