Prime Minister Modi Concludes Australia Visit, Highlights Sports Cooperation and a New Era of Partnership By Shabu Zaidi
Melbourne: Concluding his visit to Australia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to the Australian government, its people, and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for their warm welcome and hospitality. He said the visit has further strengthened the India–Australia strategic partnership and opened new avenues for cooperation across multiple sectors.
Addressing an event in Melbourne, Prime Minister Modi stated that the growing collaboration between the two nations would not only benefit India and Australia but also contribute positively to global progress. He expressed confidence that the outcomes of this visit would take bilateral relations to new heights in the years ahead.
The Prime Minister also spoke about his interaction with young athletes at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). He described watching children play cricket, kabaddi, and Australian Rules football as an inspiring experience, emphasizing that sports possess a unique ability to bring people together and strengthen friendships between nations.
He noted that India and Australia already share a deep sporting relationship. As both countries prepare to host major international sporting events in the coming years, he said there are immense opportunities to expand cooperation in sports, youth engagement, sports infrastructure, and talent development.
Prime Minister Modi added that the partnership between India and Australia extends far beyond diplomacy. It is also creating new opportunities in education, innovation, sports, and youth empowerment, laying the foundation for a stronger and more comprehensive relationship between the two countries.
