PM Modi Meets Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Bishkek, Discusses Trade and Regional Peace

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a four-day foreign tour of Central Asia. As the first leg of his visit, Prime Minister Modi arrived in Kazakhstan, where he received a warm and grand welcome. He then proceeded to Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, where he was also given a warm reception.

In Bishkek, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held meetings with leaders of various countries. During this visit, he also held an important meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The two leaders discussed ways to further strengthen the long-standing friendly relations between India and Iran and expand cooperation across various sectors.

During the meeting, special emphasis was placed on increasing bilateral trade between India and Iran in the coming period and diversifying the scope of their trade relations. Considering the historic and longstanding ties between the two countries, the leaders also discussed possibilities for giving fresh momentum to economic and commercial cooperation.

The discussions also covered the current situation in the region and efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability. Prime Minister Modi stated that India would continue to support all efforts aimed at ensuring lasting peace.

The two leaders also explored possibilities for expanding cooperation between India and Iran. Cooperation in connectivity, trade and other important areas, including the Chabahar Port, was also considered significant for both countries.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit is being viewed as an important step towards strengthening India’s relations with countries in Central Asia and West Asia. His meetings with various leaders in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, along with his talks with the Iranian President, have highlighted India’s priorities regarding regional diplomacy, economic cooperation and stronger international partnerships.
