During the Monsoon Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta distributed bicycles to 200 Class 9 girl students under the ‘Vidya Vahini Yojana’. The initiative aims to make it easier for girls to travel to school and encourage them to continue their education without interruption.

According to the government, around 1.40 lakh girl students across Delhi will receive bicycles this year under the Vidya Vahini Yojana. The initiative is expected to particularly benefit students who face difficulties commuting to school due to distance or limited transportation facilities.

During the programme, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that educating girls not only strengthens their future but also plays an important role in the progress of society. The government’s objective is to ensure that no girl is forced to discontinue her education because of financial difficulties or transportation-related challenges.

The distribution of bicycles is expected to make commuting to school easier while also boosting the confidence and sense of independence among girl students. The Delhi government views the initiative as an important step towards promoting girls’ education and empowerment.

Through this scheme, the Delhi government aims to bring more girls closer to education and provide them with better opportunities to pursue their dreams and build a brighter future.
