Prime Minister Modi Arrives in New Zealand After Australia Visit, Receives Grand Welcome and Guard of Honour

Auckland: After successfully concluding his visit to Australia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New Zealand for the final leg of his three-nation tour. At Auckland Airport, he was warmly welcomed by New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. Prime Minister Modi was also accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour.

This marks the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in nearly 40 years, making it a historic occasion in the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

A large number of members of the Indian community gathered at the airport to welcome Prime Minister Modi, dressed in traditional attire and waving Indian national flags. Amid chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Modi, Modi,” the Prime Minister greeted the Indian diaspora. Special arrangements had also been made across the city with the flags of India and New Zealand displayed to mark his arrival.

During the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon are scheduled to hold bilateral talks. The two leaders will discuss a wide range of issues, including trade, investment, defence and security cooperation, education, agriculture, technology, and strengthening people-to-people ties. They are also expected to focus on the effective implementation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and on giving fresh momentum to the strategic partnership between the two nations.

According to the Government of India, the visit is expected to mark the beginning of a new chapter in India–New Zealand relations. Several important announcements and agreements aimed at strengthening economic, strategic, and cultural cooperation between the two countries are anticipated during the visit.
