UAE Confirms Netanyahu’s Visit, Iran and Bilateral Ties Discussed

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially confirmed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Abu Dhabi. According to the UAE’s state news agency WAM, Netanyahu visited the UAE on Sunday and met with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The confirmation comes at a time when the Middle East continues to face military and diplomatic tensions linked to Iran, amid rapidly changing regional dynamics.
According to WAM, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Israel and ways to further strengthen and develop cooperation between the two countries. However, the official UAE report did not provide details of all the issues discussed during the meeting. International reports said that regional developments related to Iran were also part of the discussions.
Netanyahu’s visit had not been publicly announced in advance. Israeli officials confirmed on Sunday that he had arrived in Abu Dhabi, but the UAE had not issued an official confirmation at that time. The visit was formally confirmed on Monday through a report by WAM.
The UAE and Israel formally established diplomatic relations following the Abraham Accords in 2020. Since then, cooperation between the two countries has expanded in areas including trade, technology, security and other sectors. However, the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and tensions involving Iran have also brought renewed attention to the regional implications of UAE-Israel relations.
It is noteworthy that in September, senior UAE leadership also held discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on regional tensions and efforts to promote stability.
