FIR Against La Martiniere Boys’ School Teacher Under POCSO, Alleged Obscene Chats With Minor Student

Lucknow: A serious case has emerged involving the prestigious La Martiniere College (Boys) in Lucknow. An FIR has been registered at Gautam Palli Police Station against school teacher Nagesh Shukla for allegedly engaging in obscene chats and sending objectionable messages to a minor student. According to media reports, the case has been registered under relevant sections of the POCSO Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Information Technology (IT) Act.
Case Registered on Principal’s Complaint
According to reports, the complaint was filed by the school principal. The complaint alleges that the teacher engaged in objectionable and allegedly obscene conversations with a minor student studying in Class 9 and sent him inappropriate messages.
After the matter came to the school’s attention, the information was reportedly conveyed to the police, following which a case was registered against the teacher at Gautam Palli Police Station.
Chats and Digital Evidence at the Centre of Investigation
The alleged chats are being treated as important evidence in the investigation. Police are examining mobile phones, chats, messages and other digital material to determine the nature of the communication between the teacher and the minor student and whether it contained objectionable or inappropriate content.
Investigating authorities may also verify the authenticity of the digital evidence and examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged communication. Further legal action will depend on the facts and evidence that emerge during the investigation.
POCSO Act Makes the Case Serious
The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act provides legal protection to children from sexual offences and related forms of exploitation. According to the reports, relevant provisions of the POCSO Act, along with sections of the BNS and IT Act, have been invoked against the teacher.
The matter is considered serious as the allegations involve a school teacher and a minor student of the same institution. However, registration of an FIR does not amount to proof of guilt. The allegations against the teacher will have to be established through investigation and due judicial process.
Role of School Administration May Also Be Examined
As part of the investigation, authorities may examine when the school administration became aware of the alleged incident, what action was taken internally after the complaint, and under what circumstances the matter was reported to the police.
At present, the investigation is reportedly focused primarily on the alleged chats and other related digital evidence.
Identity of Minor Kept Confidential
Under the law, the identity of a minor involved in such a case must be kept confidential. Therefore, the student’s name, photograph, address and other details that could reveal his identity are not being disclosed.
The police investigation is currently underway, and the truth of the allegations against the teacher will become clear only after the investigation and subsequent legal proceedings are completed.
