If There Are Teachers, There Will Be a Teachers’ Day Shabu Zaidi

Every year, on September 5, we celebrate Teachers’ Day. This day reminds us how important a teacher is in our lives. There was a time when teachers in Gurukuls and Madrasas shared knowledge as a duty and responsibility. Today, education has become modernized—expensive schools, universities, online classes, and artificial intelligence have completely changed the way we learn.

The development of technology is necessary, but there is a question we must ask ourselves today: Will robots replace teachers in the future?

A robot will not get tired, ask for leave, or fall sick. It can continue teaching without interruption. But can it understand the fear hidden in a child’s eyes? Can it put a hand on the shoulder of a struggling student and say, “Don’t give up. You can do it”?

Education is not just about knowledge from books; it is also about values, compassion, sensitivity, and humanity. Therefore, we should certainly use modern technology, but robots should assist teachers—not replace them.

Because the day teachers are replaced by machines in schools, children may know many things, but there may be no teacher left to celebrate Teachers’ Day with.

Let education be modernized, but let teachers never become obsolete.
Because a machine can provide knowledge, but only a human being can truly make another human being.
