Power Comes Through Public Mandate, Not Street Anarchy”: Rajnath Singh Targets Congress

Lucknow | Shabu Zaidi

Defence Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh met party workers and residents of the city during his visit to Lucknow. During the interaction, he targeted the Congress, saying that slogans such as “Regime Change” and “The Way Forward Lies on the Streets, Not in Parliament” do not strengthen democracy. He added that promoting violence and disorder in the name of political opposition is against the interests of the nation.

Rajnath Singh said the Congress should understand that the path to power runs through the public mandate, not through creating disorder on the streets. Referring to India’s global standing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he said the country had made progress in several areas, including digital transactions, space exploration, free trade agreements and defence production.

According to the Defence Minister, India is moving towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing while also strengthening its identity as an exporter of defence equipment.

Responding to the Congress’s questions about the Election Commission, Rajnath Singh reminded the party of its past tenure in power. He said questions had also been raised during Congress-led governments regarding the impartiality of the Election Commission and the appointment of its officials. He added that before questioning others, the party should also reflect on its own record.
