Do Hyderabad Leaders and Some Maulanas Become Muslim Well-Wishers Only During Elections? Intellectuals Raise Questions

As the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections draw closer, political rhetoric surrounding Muslim votes is intensifying. Intellectuals and social activists allege that some Maulanas invoke the interests of the Muslim community during election time to put pressure on political parties. However, voters are now more aware and capable of making their own decisions.

Intellectual and teacher Kambar Raza Mintu, along with other social activists, believes that the Muslim community should demand accountability on issues such as education, employment, security, and constitutional rights rather than being swayed by emotional speeches.

Social activist Mohammad Shabbir Khan criticised a leader from Hyderabad, saying that leaders who claim to champion Muslim interests should ensure consistency between their public statements and personal conduct. He alleged that some leaders express concern for Muslims during elections, but voters should carefully assess their actual work and performance.

He said today’s voters are aware and must decide who genuinely raises the concerns of Muslims, backward communities, and Dalits from the streets to Parliament.

The question is clear: Does the Muslim community need election-time speeches, or concrete guarantees of education, employment, dignity, and rights?
