India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chosen by 140 crore fellow citizens, addressed the nation stating that current global situations and rising tensions in the Middle East are impacting economic conditions. At such a time, citizens should make some essential changes in their daily routines — such as reducing petrol consumption, promoting work from home, adopting online classes, and avoiding gold purchases for some time.
The Prime Minister’s appeal is a positive and farsighted advice given with the national interest and economic stability in mind. Just as the government issued guidelines during the Corona period, this appeal in the current circumstances also conveys a message of responsible citizenship. History bears witness that similar appeals have been made by the Prime Minister’s Office in the national interest even during tense situations with China and Pakistan.
Unfortunately, the opposition is criticizing even this serious issue connected to the national interest, whereas cooperation and support should rise above politics on matters of national good. Perhaps the opposition has no concrete alternative suggestions on this topic.
I fully support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s this appeal and myself resolve to implement it completely. This is the time to show restraint, prudence, and unity in the national interest.
